You may be spending extra money for the perfect maintenance for your car. But is it really required? Taking care of your vehicle is important but following the unsaid myths is not a wise decision. Read through the blog to know about the car maintenance myths that you may be following till now.

Myth 1: Oil needs to be replaced every 3000 miles
With the massive development in car technology and its maintenance services, there is no requirement to replace the oil after a mark of 3000 miles. Be careful about using synthetic oil mentioned in the car manual you have purchased. Change the oil based on the durability of the oil products of the car. Replacing oil after time intervals does no good to the car engine. You may end up throwing away a product which is perfect in functioning owing to this myth.

Myth 2: Engine warming before driving
A persistent myth among people is warming up the engine to the normal temperature during the cold days. There are some certain engine parts which take the time to warm up and function with its full capacity. The engine takes a longer time to warm and thereby resulting in cold-related wear and tear of the car parts. When you have put your car’s engine to idling, it is already producing enough power that can be utilized to drive the car instead of simply making it stand at one place. According to car detailing Perth, the car components that need to be warmed up are catalytic converters, wheel bearings, and transmission.

Myth 3: Shining tires using some products
Every car owner wants to have shining tires. The market is flooded with a lot of products used to maintain the shine of the tire. This is one of the common myths among the people that such products enhances the tire’s life and protects it from the usual wear and tear. Think yourself couldn’t the tires bear the difficulty of daily driving? Tires are manufactured with the material that is made to last long. In order to maintain its shine, all you need to do is use water and mild detergent and protect its look.

Myth 4: Change of coolant with oil
Some companies recommend changing the coolant with the oil after the car has driven to some thousand distances. However, before changing the coolant get it checked and if turns out to be fine, there is no need of getting the coolant flushed. But if the coolant seems to be contaminated and the reservoir always looks low despite constant topping, coolant flushing is required.

Myth 5: Battery recharge after a jump start
During the winter season, hours of driving will be required to get the car battery completely recharged. The accessories within the car like music system, heated seats, and other parts use so much of power that the alternator is left with the only a little power to recharge the battery. A simple jump start cannot recharge the battery. The car detailing services in Perth check the battery before charging it to full.

Myth 6: Using any quality grade won’t make a
difference
You can end up damaging your car by using the incorrect type of gas. Saving money by using usual fuel for the modern car engines can result in severe damage to the engine and its poor performance. The myth of not using premium oil for your vehicle reduces the fuel mileage performance of the car’s engine. Using regular fuel promote deposition of the carbon in the train’s valve and the combustion chamber leading to more maintenance charges.

Myth 7: Inflating the tires with the pressure shown on sidewalls
The PSI rating printed on the side of the tire defines the maximum pressure that a tire can withstand. However, this does not imply that it is the ideal pressure     for your car as all the car manufacturers have different specifications. It is better to refer to the sticker mentioned on the glove compartment to check about the absolute specification of your vehicle.
It is important to take care of your vehicle, but following the myths related to car maintenance is not a wise decision.
